Who We Are & Our Journey
Beauty and value emerging from what others discard
Our journey began in the flood-prone informal settlements of Kisumu, where plastic waste, discarded glass bottles and textile waste often clog drainage systems, pollute Lake Victoria and threaten both livelihoods and ecosystems. Rather than seeing waste as an inevitable burden, we saw an opportunity to reimagine these materials as resources capable of creating dignified employment.
Working closely with women artisans, youth makers and local creatives, we design and produce a growing collection of handcrafted home décor, functional art, contemporary beadwork, decorative flowers, planters, vases, candle holders and textile accessories each piece blending traditional African craftsmanship with modern design.
SheCycle invests in people. We equip women and young people with practical skills in glasswork, beadwork, textile upcycling, product design, quality finishing, entrepreneurship, branding, pricing and market readiness.
“Beauty and value can emerge from what others discard using artisan craftsmanship and circular design to tell stories of resilience, innovation and hope.”

“We must stop treating climate change as a foreign conference agenda. Environmental solutions are built in our streets, marketplaces and backyard workshops. By funding African women to lead this change, we secure our communal future.”
Christine Adhiambo Oluoch is a sustainability strategist, grassroots social organizer and creative upcycling advocate with over a decade of experience designing circular ecosystems across East Africa. Born in Kisumu, she witnessed first-hand how municipal waste challenges disproportionately impacted female market traders and young job-seekers.
Holding advanced degrees in Environmental Sciences and Social Entrepreneurship, Christine founded SheCycle Innovations Enterprise to bridge clean technology with indigenous artistic patterns. Today, she represents SheCycle on global sustainability boards, advocating for decentralized, gender-centric waste integration within UN-Habitat and UNEP frameworks.
Strategic Mission: “Empowering 5,000+ African women by 2030 through sustainable waste upcycling.”
