SheCycle Innovation is a women-led artisan enterprise based in Kisumu, Kenya, transforming reclaimed glass, plastics, textiles and locally sourced materials into handcrafted products that celebrate African creativity, cultural heritage and environmental sustainability. Founded on the belief that beauty and value can emerge from what others discard, SheCycle uses artisan craftsmanship and circular design to create products that tell stories of resilience, innovation and hope.
Our journey began in the flood-prone informal settlements of Kisumu, where plastic waste, discarded glass bottles and textile waste often clog drainage systems, pollute Lake Victoria and threaten both livelihoods and ecosystems. Rather than seeing waste as an inevitable environmental burden, we saw an opportunity to reimagine these materials as resources capable of creating dignified employment, preserving artisan skills and building climate-resilient communities.
We collect reclaimed glass bottles, plastics, textiles and locally sourced materials from Kisumu's informal settlements and market hubs before they enter drainage systems or Lake Victoria. All materials undergo thorough eco-friendly sterilization, sorting and finishing to ensure every handcrafted piece is safe, durable and of premium quality.
Working closely with women artisans, youth makers and local creatives, we design and produce a growing collection of handcrafted home décor, functional art, contemporary beadwork, decorative flowers, planters, vases, candle holders, textile accessories and custom artisan pieces. Every product is handcrafted with care, blending traditional African craftsmanship with modern design while promoting responsible production and sustainable consumption.
